It's Poppin'! | Confetti Madness
Toro was sitting back in his office at Milkmen’s, for once not in the uniform he normally wore, but time had slipped by him and instead had on jeans and the club’s promotional shirt. Papers were spread out on his desk varying from bills, punch ins, orders to be filled, and the payroll for staff to have a check at the end of the night. He shouldn't have waited so long to do this, but his adventure with Melitta earlier had caused him to come in late to get things done. But how was he supposed to ignore such a little cutie in distress?
The only noise was the music beating against the wall and the cheers from the crowd as his pen scrawled across papers, pressing buttons on the keyboard to enter it into the system to keep track of everything electronically as well as on paper. He hated this part of club ownership, it made him feel old. But, money motivates those to come back to work at his place of business, plus the VIP memberships or reservations on certain nights really put some bolster in the coffers here. As for the tips, as long as they went to the right Moo and divided fairly, it was fine with him.
Swiveling in his chair, he was focused on fixing a discrepancy in the attendance; he didn't hear the giggle as his door was softly opened. Unbeknownst to him, Ailsa was setting up poppers, fully loaded with confetti on the desk that was covered in a mountain of papers. Three were carefully planted and one was taped to a calculator, just pulled a little out of arm's reach that would cause it to fire if pulled. Giggling, Alisa hid just far enough to hear Toro if the poppers go off, she could relish in the success of the prank.
Toro sighed as he turned away from the computer screen. Rubbing his face, he reached for the calculator, seeing something off from the bar sales. His bartender had been saying the bottles had been off and didn't know if some of the other staff had been making their own without the bartender’s permission. As he grabbed it, he let out a startle bellow as he hit in the face with a flurry of colored paper scraps. He tripped over the spokes of his computer chair and fell on the floor, on his butt.
Watching the confetti fall around him, he sighed and rubbed his face. His staff sure got him ha ha! Collecting himself, he stood back up, wincing and rubbing his lower back. He pulled out a drawer and took a mild pain reliever to keep it from blossoming into something he couldn't handle later. Sitting back at his desk, he swiped the confetti off his desk and onto the floor. He would have to sweep it up later, but he just wanted to get done with this so he wouldn't stay all night. But unknowingly, there were two poppers waiting for him and Alisa had been holding back laughter when she heard his bellow.
“Okay, maybe order forms can help tell me why we are losing profit on the bar…” Another packet was covering a confetti popper, once the weight was off of it, it would launch its colorful attack on unsuspecting Moo. His large hand gripped the packet and was pulling it towards him… and being covered in finer shreds of confetti. It went everywhere… his hair, his horns, some even got into the fluff of his ears. Only because his desk covered his lap, it didn't go any lower.
“Haha guys! You sure got your boss! I'll remember this when bonuses go out!” He called out to no one, just going to deal with the bits of confetti because he just wanted to go home and relax, not wanting to deal with all this paperwork any longer. Toro leaned over and shook his head, getting some of the confetti out, but knew it would be a while until ALL of it would have to be washed out. Before he did anything else, he carefully checked his pile of papers for another popper. Fool him once, shame on them, fool him twice… well then he is the bigger fool and there ain't no way he was about to fall for it a third time.
Noticing something neon, he found the last popper or at least he hoped. Carefully maneuvering it, he gripped it in hand. Surely the prankster wouldn't be too far to not hear their prank go off, who wouldn't want to hear that their prank was a success? Quietly, he left the office with the popper. He was going to give the prankster a taste of their own medicine since they liked to spread their crafty joy. Keeping his ears out, he made a show of false anger, “when I find out who's been planting these in my office is going to get it! They'll be cleaning the bathroom until the last of these confetti shreds get out of my hair and office!”
There! Toro heard a muffled snort of amusement and it was just around the corner. Preparing his popper, he carefully went over to the giggles. They seemed amused that he fell for it twice before calming themselves down to listen in for their last one to go off. He smirked and rounded the corner, popper aiming at them and surprising them, eyes widened as he covered them in the same fine confetti that was launched at him. After it set off and the cloud of colored paper fell to the floor, he sighed when he saw who the culprit was.
“Alisa.” Toro crossed his arms as he watched her smile and brushed the confetti off of herself, thoroughly happy and still giggling when she saw some shiny, neon, and metallic paper shreds showing up against his dark hide. “Hey Toro! You're looking festive for Trickster's Guile! The pink really looks good on you!” He offered her his hand to help her up and brushed off the confetti that was not clinging to her. “You don't have any more of those poppers around my club do you? Last thing I need is someone getting confetti on them when they are supposed to be having a good time.”
She smiled impishly and started to walk away, saying maybe there were and Toro would have to find them before some poor Moo got the blast of it. Let's just say Toro spent the remaining evening trying to find those poppers rather than working on the paperwork in his office.
