Green Thumb | A Well-Researched Garden
The books he had found from the library had not been helpful in finding out about Cybele, but Moore ended up finding his way back to that library again in order to check out some of the books from before. It certainly helped that he had found so many books about nature and gardening when he first went through the shelves.
When he returned home, he seemingly focused on nothing but his new garden for an entire week. Not even Anastasius could get in contact with him. Every time he showed up at the other's house, the door would be completely blocked with deliveries of seeds, wood beams, and fresh soil.
The progress was made quickly, though it was a bit funny how the hammers and nails that Moore used to put the planters together often found themselves right next to the stack of books that he would consult about what to plant and where, not to mention the sort of atmosphere that he was creating for the garden. Its focus was function, but the pheromoo made sure to put up some decorative flowers around the perimeter of the garden that were only there to be pretty. He also made sure to stay away from anything that would be toxic to pets if he could help it. His dragon was quite good at keeping to himself and not eating any strange plants, but his capypack... was not so practiced in the art of self control.
Eventually, The garden was at a state where Cian could walk across the grounds and mark stuff down in his notebook. The books had been returned at this point, having given him all the knowledge that he needed for the task at hand. Now all that was left was some final pieces of decoration, and for Mr.Moore to assure himself that everything was where it should be.
The first four rows were dedicated to plants that were meant to be ingested in one way or another. Food, Drink, Seasonings, and Medicinal purposes. Some of the plants here could even be used for incenses and ointments. Now, Moore had never had any interest in incense in the past, but that certainly wouldn't stop him from trying it now. With the variety of plants in this section of the garden, they were delicately separated so that they would not interfere with each other, with small signs with symbols drawn on them to show which plant was which. Admittedly, the signs were a bit hard to decipher, but Cian could understand his own drawings, which was good enough for him.
The next two rows were for the use of clothing and jewelry. One of the rows in this section was dedicated to flax. With the amount that would be needed to make any suitable kind of linen, it required that space. The other row was dedicated to plants that would be able to be turned into dye. At the end of these two rows was a sizable clearing dedicated to a singular small sapling. If all goes well, he'll be able to witness the quickest portion of the tree's growth, if the book he had taken out on the nature of oak trees was anything to go by.
The last four rows were dedicated to plants with connections to magic and religion. Not magical on their own, but used in rituals and to create potions that would be deemed magical by some. The separations here seemed to be more sporadic, the plants being organized by particular rituals that Moore had been able to get information on instead of anything having to do with the plants themselves.
It seemed like everything was in order. He was excited for this project of his, hoping that it would fit in perfectly with the rest of his life. He could certainly see a reality where taking care of this large garden and going to work took up enough of his day to keep himself from being bored. Sure, there would be some free time in there, but hopefully now it would be a pleasant amount of time where he could read in peace and practice his skills, instead of an anxious collection of hours where he wondered if he was really being productive enough in his life.
Besides, no matter how much of his time it took up, he found it worth the effort. It was the least he could do in Cybele's name, really.
